GlobalTech lands stringent AS9100 certification, takes off into aircraft interiors market
GlobalTech is flying a little higher in 2020 as the company celebrates a new certification. AS9100 is an internationally recognized management standard for the aerospace industry.
“Every time they board a flight, airline passengers put their trust in the aerospace supply chain,” said Tom Fleck, GlobalTech president and chief executive officer. “AS9100 is hard to achieve, and it should be. This certification is a testament to our people and processes as a supplier. It shows that GlobalTech is up to the task of safely and reliably producing aircraft parts and products.”
On the journey to certification, third-party auditors reviewed GlobalTech from nose to tail. They sought evidence that the company adheres to a comprehensive production and quality system that meets the AS9100 standard.
“With their visit, the auditors looked at the big picture here at GlobalTech,” said Jassi Choi, Quality Assurance Manager. “Of course, they verified that we have the capabilities to support customers’ mold design needs and to manage materials and processes to produce injection molded plastics to spec.
“But the auditors also verified little details across the plant, like how we manage versions of engineering drawings in our database and how we dispose of parts that don’t meet quality requirements,” Choi said. “We had to show that our system is designed to ensure quality and safety at every touchpoint—and that all of our associates are trained to use the system.”
Fleck said that GlobalTech passed its AS9100 audit with flying colors. “This is another example of how our company is prepared to support customers in highly regulated industries—whether that is aerospace, transportation or medical,” he said.
